Bluewaters Holiday Homes & Monthly Stays

Bluewaters is a small man-made island just off Jumeirah Beach Residence, joined to the beach by a footbridge, and it is where you stay to be on the water with JBR and the Marina a walk away.

What Bluewaters is

Bluewaters Island sits in the sea just off the beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence, at the seaward end of Dubai Marina. It is compact, built as a mix of low- and mid-rise residential buildings, hotels, shops and restaurants, and best known for the giant observation wheel at its tip.

Unlike most of Dubai, Bluewaters was designed to be walked. A pedestrian bridge joins it to the beach at JBR, and the island itself is laid out around promenades and squares rather than roads.

That makes it feel quite different from the towers across the water. It is quieter than the Marina, smaller in scale, and almost everything on the island is a few minutes on foot from everything else.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who wants to be on the water and on foot. From an apartment on Bluewaters you can walk to the island’s restaurants, across the bridge to the beach at JBR, and on into the Marina, without getting into a car.

It suits couples and families looking for something calmer than the Marina with all of it within reach. The island is lively in the evening around its restaurants and quiet in its residential parts.

It suits longer stays, because the homes are residential apartments with full kitchens and laundry, and the setting, on an island with the sea on every side, is a rare one for a month in the city.

It suits less well a trip built around Downtown and the older parts of Dubai, which are on the far side of the city, or anyone who wants a wide choice of homes: Bluewaters is small, and so is the selection on it.

Getting on and off the island

Bluewaters is joined to the mainland by road from Sheikh Zayed Road, and to the beach at JBR by a footbridge. Most visitors use the footbridge for JBR and the Marina, and taxis or ride-hailing for anywhere further.

There is no metro station on the island. The nearest metro and tram stops are in Dubai Marina, which is a walk across the bridge and through JBR, or a short taxi ride.

On the island itself, a car is unnecessary. Everything is laid out to be walked, and the island is small enough that it all is within easy reach.

What the homes are like

The homes on Bluewaters are apartments in the island’s residential buildings, which are lower-rise than the towers across the water. Many face the sea, the beach at JBR or the Marina skyline, and residents have the use of the buildings’ pools and gyms.

The buildings are relatively new, and the finishes reflect that: contemporary interiors, generous windows and balconies that are meant to be used.

fäm Living has a small number of homes on Bluewaters Island, so what is available changes quickly with the dates. Put your dates in to see what is free, and for winter weeks it is worth looking early.

When to come

Dubai’s comfortable months run from about November to March, and on Bluewaters that is when walking everywhere is a pleasure: across to the beach, round the island, and out to dinner in the evening. It is also when the island is busiest.

In summer the heat limits walking to the early morning and late evening, and the pool matters more than the promenade. Rates fall to match, and for a longer stay the summer is considerably better value.

What staying with fäm Living is like

Every home is licensed with Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism and registered on the Holiday Homes system, the same as everywhere else we operate.

Check-in is in person, by our team here in Dubai, and the same cleaning standard applies between every stay.

Booking direct means the nightly rate and the cleaning fee and nothing on top, and the price quoted is for your actual dates, including the reduction on a longer stay.

Questions

Staying in Bluewaters Island

Where is Bluewaters Island?
It sits in the sea just off the beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence, at the seaward end of Dubai Marina. A footbridge joins it to JBR, and a road connects it to Sheikh Zayed Road.
Can you walk from Bluewaters to JBR and Dubai Marina?
Yes. A pedestrian bridge connects the island to the beach at JBR, and from there the Marina is a walk along the waterfront. It is one of the few places in Dubai where you can comfortably go out on foot.
Is there a metro station on Bluewaters Island?
No. The nearest metro and tram stops are in Dubai Marina, reached on foot across the bridge and through JBR, or by a short taxi ride. Taxis and ride-hailing reach the island without difficulty.
Is Bluewaters a good place to stay with children?
It is a good fit for families who want the beach and the waterfront without the busier streets of the Marina. The island is walkable and largely free of through-traffic, and the beach at JBR is just across the bridge.
Can I book a Bluewaters apartment for a month or longer?
Yes. The apartments are residential homes with full kitchens and laundry, and longer stays are priced differently — add your dates and the price shown is for that stay. We have a small number of homes here, so look early.
