What Dubai Creek Harbour is
Dubai Creek Harbour is a newer district built along Dubai Creek, on the inland stretch of the water beside the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a planned waterfront community of residential towers, a promenade and a marina.
The view is the reason most people notice it. From the promenade and many of the towers you look straight across the water at the Downtown skyline and the Burj Khalifa, and in the other direction over the wetlands of the sanctuary, where flamingos are often seen in the cooler months.
The district is still being built, and parts of it are active construction sites. The completed areas around the promenade feel finished and residential, but it is worth knowing that building work continues nearby.
Who it suits
It suits anyone who wants a new apartment, a skyline view and a quieter neighbourhood than Downtown, while staying on the same side of the city.
It suits frequent travellers and business visitors, because it is on the airport side of Dubai and close to the older commercial districts around the creek.
It suits longer stays, because the homes are residential apartments with full kitchens and laundry, and the district has its own everyday shops and cafés along the waterfront.
It suits less well a beach holiday. Dubai Creek Harbour is on the creek, not the sea, and the beaches are a drive away.
Getting around
Most people get around Dubai Creek Harbour by taxi or ride-hailing car, which reach the district easily. The major roads toward Downtown, the airport and the older city are close by.
Public transport inside the district is limited for now, and a taxi is the simplest way to reach the metro or anywhere else in the city.
On foot, the waterfront promenade is the heart of the district, and it is a pleasant walk in the cooler months, especially in the evening when the skyline across the water is lit up.
What the homes are like
Homes here are apartments in new residential towers, many high-rise, with modern kitchens and bathrooms. Most buildings have a pool, a gym and residents’ facilities.
Which way the home faces matters a great deal. Some look across the creek to the Downtown skyline, some over the wildlife sanctuary, and some over the district itself, so it is worth checking the listing for each one.
What is free changes with the dates. Put your dates in to see what is available, and look early for the busier winter weeks.
