Where Dubai Harbour is
Dubai Harbour sits on the coast between the base of Palm Jumeirah and the towers of Dubai Marina and JBR. It is one of the newer districts in the city, built out into the water around a large yacht marina and a cruise terminal.
The wider area includes Emaar Beachfront, the community of beachfront towers with its own beach for residents, and a growing set of residential and hotel towers on the mainland side. The whole district is still being built out in places, so construction is part of the picture in some streets and absent in others.
What ties it together is the water. Many homes here look over the sea, the Palm or the Marina skyline, and the beach is never far.
Who it suits
It suits anyone who wants a new building and a sea view at the western end of the city, with the Marina and JBR next door for restaurants and evenings out.
It suits couples and families looking for something calmer than JBR or the Marina. Dubai Harbour has less foot traffic than its neighbours, and it feels more like a residential waterfront than a destination.
It suits longer stays, because the apartments are residential homes with full kitchens and laundry, and the everyday shops of the Marina are close.
It suits less well anyone who wants to step out of the door into a busy street. The district is still filling in, and for now most of the restaurants and nightlife are next door rather than on site.
Getting around
Most people get around Dubai Harbour by taxi or ride-hailing car, which reach every building easily. The district sits beside the main coastal roads, with Sheikh Zayed Road a short drive inland.
The Dubai Tram and the Dubai Metro both serve the Marina next door, so public transport is close by, though from most buildings it is a short ride rather than a walk.
Downtown, the older districts and the airport are on the far side of the city. By road it is a straightforward drive outside the rush hours, and the metro covers the same route without a change of line.
What the homes are like
Homes in Dubai Harbour are apartments in new residential towers, many of them high-rise. Most buildings have a pool, a gym and residents’ lounges, and the newer finish shows in the kitchens and bathrooms.
Views are the main thing to compare. Depending on the tower and the side of the building, a home might look out to the open sea, along the Palm, or back across the Marina skyline, so it is worth checking the listing for each one.
